On Tuesday 18 April 2023 our Dutch sister organisation is having their Annual General Meeting and Conference in Eindhoven.

During this event, addressed specifically at IP paralegals, we will discuss the most recent developments in the PCT systems, followed by an in-depth discussion of specific topics of both the international and the national phase of the PCT procedure.

Our colleagues of the Dutch Platform Formalities Officers are organising on the 13th of October 2022 a live Master Class Unitary Patent and Unitary Patent Court at Unilever in Wageningen, preceded by a visit to the Future Foods Kitchens division.

The Belgian Intellectual Property Office announced the conference ‘The Unitary Patent System – A game change for innovation in Europe’ taking place in their offices in Brussels. More news to follow…

We are happy to announce that BELAIPA will become the 6th organization/country represented in EPIPA. BELAIPA will start as an associate member for the next coming years with the ultimate goal of becoming a full member. EPIPA represents over 1500 IP Administrators.

We were delighted to notice the presence of a few of our BELAIPA members at the online Trademark event of our Dutch colleagues.

One of the advantages of our membership is to participate in online and live events, and education. The tutors from EUIPO promoted the ETMD, the ‘Education program for paralegals’. This program replaces the IP course for paralegals. Unfortunately, they announced that the application period for 2022/2023 is already closed because the maximum capacity of the participants has been reached.

The next course will start next year, however in the meantime live and recorded webinars are available for you on the learning portal of the EUIPO.

On tuesday 28 june 2022, the Dutch platform for formalities officers will be hosting an online Trademarks event in cooperation with EUIPO.

EPIPA has announced more details regarding the preparation of the European Examination for Formalities Officers, called EPAC (European Patent Administrators Certificate). A support group with representatives from EPO, EPI and EPIPA will be set up shortly. The goal is having the first exam take place in the autumn of 2022 by means of the online tool called WISEflow. The latter has been used before at the official exam for becoming a Certified Formalities Officer organized by the Dutch Platform.
